Last week, one of my students proudly said, “I’m feeling under the climate today.” 😅 What he really meant was “under the weather.” Idioms often confuse even good learners—they sound logical, but the real meaning is hidden. That’s why today’s quiz is all about tricky idioms.

Here’s a simple tip: never translate idioms word-for-word. Instead, think about the situation where they’re used.

For example:

  • “Break the ice” → not about ice! It means to start a conversation in a friendly way.

  • “Spill the beans” → no beans involved. It means to reveal a secret.

  • “Hit the sack” → no violence here. It means to go to sleep.

👉 Want to test yourself? Take today’s quiz on 5 idioms that even intermediate learners struggle with. Each one comes with answers so you can check instantly.

Remember: mastering idioms makes you sound more natural and confident in real conversations.
